Project Title

Home Self-Administered Tool for Environmental Assessment of Activity and Diet (HomeSTEAD)

Funding Dates

7/2009-6/2011

Description

The overall goal of the project was to create a self-administered measure of the home environment and provide evidence for the reliability and validity of the self-administered measure of the home environment in a diverse sample of families. Results from this study led to a better understanding of childhood obesity and provide guidance for family-based interventions. The new instrument is a resource for researchers and professionals who seek to understand the complex interactions between environmental influences in the home and children’s diet and physical activity behaviors.
